Geld:Bedeutung des Geldes

Geld wird oft als Tauschmittel für Waren, Güter oder Dienstleistung angesehen. Jedoch geht die Bedeutung des Geldes weit über die Funktion als Tauschmittel hinaus. Geld gilt als Anerkennung für die getane Arbeit, auch würde es soziale Defizite vermeiden. Jedoch zeigt sich auf der anderen Seite auch deutlich, dass durch Geldmangel und fehlende finanzielle Mittel soziale Defizite erst verstärkt werden. Im schlimmsten Fall wird man unter anderem auf Grundlage dessen aus der Mitte der Gesellschaft ausgeschlossen.

Geld wird nicht nur als bedrucktes Papier oder bloße Zahlen betrachtet sondern hat auch eine starke emotionale Komponente. Laut Soziologie Paul Kellermann liegt dies darin begründet, dass fast alle Dienstleistungen oder Waren durch den Einsatz von Geld zu erhalten sind. Somit würde man laut Kellermann annehmen, dass Geld alleine bereits etwas bewirken könnte und Sicherheit vermittelt. (vgl. REIFFERT) 

Geld- Studie der Universität Minnesota

Durch eine Studie der Universität Minnesota fand man bereits vor einigen Jahren heraus, dass “schon der Gedanke an Geld ihre Probanden egoistischer werden ließ.” (REIFFERT) Auch sei eine Trennung zwischen gesellschaftlichen und sozialen Funktionen zu machen. Wenn dies vermischt wird kann es zu Kränkungen oder Missverständnissen kommen. 

Im Rahmen einer zweiten Untersuchung der Universität Minnesota, unter der Forscherin Kathleen Vohs, fand man heraus, dass Menschen, die unter sozialen Ausgrenzung gelitten haben oder leiden, schon bereits dann eine Aufwertung erfahren würden, wenn diese einen Geldschein in der Hand halten würden. Ein wichtiger Faktor ist hierbei außerdem, dass finanzielle Mittel unabhängig von ihrer gesellschaftlicher Akzeptanz sind. Durch entsprechende finanzielle Mittel kann man sich alles beschaffen, was man gerne hätte.

Laut Kellermann kann Geld außerdem ein Mittel sein um persönliche Unzufriedenheit zum Beispiel durch einen Kaufrausch zu Kompensieren und abzuschwächen. Des Weiteren sind einige Forscher der Meinung, dass Geld durch die Ausschüttung von Glückshormonen süchtig machen würde. 

In der Berufswelt gilt das Gehalt, als ein wichtiger Maßstab für die berufliche Wertschätzung. Kommt es in der gleichen Position zu unterschiedlichen Gehältern findet man häufig Neid vor. Dieser sei darauf zurückzuführen, dass man weniger Anerkennung und Wertschätzung empfinden würde wenn das Gehalt niedriger ist als das seiner Kollegen (Vgl. REIFFERT)
